A short prayer for anxious moments

For the moment before a difficult call, an uncertain answer, or the next responsibility: a few words you can use without explaining everything.

Pause before the next thing

If you can pause safely, leave the next task alone for a moment. You do not need to make your thoughts quiet before beginning. Read the prayer below at an ordinary pace, aloud or silently. There is no timer to complete and no need to restart if you lose your place.

An original prayer for this moment

This prayer was written for Mood Church. It is original devotional writing, not a Bible quotation or an official liturgical text.

God, my thoughts are running ahead of me. I bring you the uncertainty I cannot settle and the task that is here today. Help me respond with care rather than hurry. Give me courage to ask for support, patience when answers take time, and honesty about what I can manage. I do not have polished words; this is what I can offer now. Stay with me as I take the next step. Amen.

Make one detail your own

If the whole prayer feels too long, use just one sentence from this original prayer. You can name your concern silently after the opening, or change the wording to fit your situation. Leave out any line that does not express what you mean.

  • Before a conversation, consider what you want to say with care.
  • While waiting, name what remains unknown without inventing an answer.
  • Facing a task, choose the first action rather than the whole outcome.

Use an optional digital gesture

You can stay on this page, or visit Mood Church for free without an account. Its four digital settings offer Catholic and Anglican votive candles, Orthodox tapers near icons, and Protestant prayer cards. Choose one action if you wish; completing several actions is not necessary. Words-only quiet mode offers a simpler alternative to the scene.

An intention's words are optional. Before submitting, review public or private sharing. Turning sharing off excludes your dedication from the shared prayer book, but some activity still reaches the server, and entered words may be sent for a wording check. For a sensitive concern, continue without typing its details.

End without checking for a result

After the prayer, decide what comes next: return to the task, ask someone for company, or take a break if circumstances allow. You need not keep repeating until you feel different. If you share an intention, avoid refreshing its count as a test of whether the moment mattered.

Before you step inside

Can I use only part of the prayer?

Yes. Use one sentence, adapt the words, or stop midway. This original prayer is offered as a starting point, not a required formula.

Will someone respond to a shared intention?

Visitors can select I prayed after praying, but acknowledgements are not guaranteed. Mood Church is not a live clergy service; virtual characters are not ministers available for personal support.

What if I still feel anxious afterward?

No emotional or spiritual outcome is promised, and prayer here is not medical treatment. If anxiety persists or feels overwhelming, consider contacting someone you trust or a qualified professional.
