Enter an icon-lit digital setting
Mood Church’s Eastern Orthodox setting has a gold icon screen, oil lamps, and thin virtual tapers set in sand. It is free, with no account required. This is one of four settings: Catholic and Anglican rooms use votive candles, while the Protestant room offers prayer cards. Choose Eastern Orthodox from the church selector, enter with a first name or nickname, and explore at your own pace.
Light a taper for the living or the departed
Select Light a taper and choose For the living or For the departed. Add an optional first name and short note, or continue without words. Review the sharing checkbox before continuing: turning it off excludes the dedication from the shared prayer book, but some activity still reaches the server. Sensitive details are best left unwritten.
- Select Take a taper to begin the oil-lamp lighting step.
- Press and hold to settle the taper upright in the sand.
- Check for an error message, then sit or return to the church.
Use the book of names deliberately
Open Names to read shared intentions or write first names for the living or the departed. The separate Write the names form publishes to the shared book; it does not have the taper form’s private-sharing choice. For an unshared dedication, use the taper form with sharing off instead, or keep the names in your own prayer.
After praying for a public entry, select I prayed to add an acknowledgement. No acknowledgement, reply, or prayer outcome is guaranteed.
Explore the icon and prayer-rope panels
Venerate opens a sequence of on-screen cross, bow, and kiss gestures before an icon. These are actions in the digital scene, not physical participation in a church. Prayer rope opens the Jesus Prayer panel, one virtual knot at a time. Use Next bead, Space, or Enter to move forward, or select the optional steady pace. Pause or close the panel whenever you wish.
Continue with words or a chapter
Choose words-only quiet mode for prayers, the taper form, and the shared book without navigating the scene. The Bible reader is also available separately. In-site editions cover 19 of 25 page languages; six others clearly link to original readers, without an English fallback or AI-generated Scripture. In-site editions contain the common 66 books, not all additional Orthodox canon books. Reading progress and bookmarks stay in this browser, separately by page language.
